Site for ALL of Las Violetas!

It is very nice for me as spare-time webmaster to see that this site is used as much as it is.

However, apart from the forums where all users can post, most of the content currently is provided by and for R3.

It does not have to stay that way! The site is built so that both information common to all communities, AND information specific to each community, can be contained. Users belonging to one community will see the common information and the information for their community.

Regarding email notifications

First, a note to new users: If you read this text in an email, click the link above this text to see the whole article!

Once a day, a summary of new content is sent by email to all subscribers (if there is any new content). By default, all new accounts subscribe to such notifications.

Here is some information about the notifications:

Added photos from street cleaning in September

[img_assist|nid=205|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=90]Maureen in 227 has sent me some photos from the street cleaning in September. You can find them in the photo gallery!

If anyone else has photos they want to share, everyone can put them on the site by using the "Share pictures" link in the left menu. However if there are many photos with a common theme, it's better to send them to me and I will create a separate gallery for them - like I did for Maureen's photos.

Postal numbers, R3 & R4

Jim has provided the attached map of postal/house numbers for R3 and R4. This is the map he writes about in his blog entry for Nov 11, 2008.

When the situation is clarified, we will update this article with examples of new post addresses.

User #100 registered!

[img_assist|nid=382|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=100]With the signup of property 224 today, we've reached user account number 100 of this site! This includes every attempted signup (also bogus ones), so the active number of users is less.

Some properties has more than one user account, so the number of properties signed up is less than the number of user accounts. Here are the details:

Las Violetas ten pin bowling

Hi All,

As there are quite a few of us who go ten pin bowling at Torrevieja, we thought it may be nice to start something on it for the web site.

What we do is have two games and then we add the scores together to get winners. We have two cups donated by Helmut of R4, one for the ladies and one for the men.

Viva España!

[img_assist|nid=335|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=100]Congratulations to Spain, winning the Euro 2008 championships!

I don't know much about football, but watching the final, in my opinion the better team won!

Important new health care rules for British expats in Spain

British Embassy 5th June 2008

Madrid

CHANGES TO FREE HEALTHCARE ENTITLEMENT IN THE REGION OF VALENCIA

This does not affect retired expats over the state retirement age who get their free health care in Spain. This will continue to be free.

It also does not affect those who have holiday homes here or are on holiday, if you are still resident in the UK, emergency treatment will still be free.

Improved forum layout

[img_assist|nid=177|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=100|height=82]The forum section has a new layout! Now it looks a little more like other web forums, I think the new layout makes it a little bit easier to see each post and reply.

I'll probably adjust the colours a bit - the default blue ones crash a little against the warmer colours of the rest of the site.

Any comments welcome!
